General Practitioner with Special Interest in Women's Health
Dr Becky Mawson is an experienced General Practitioner with a special interest in women’s health, bringing over 10 years of clinical experience to her GP practice. She graduated from medical school in 2007 and initially trained in obstetrics and gynaecology before completing her GP training in 2014. Dr Mawson has also worked in sexual health clinics and fertility clinics, further broadening her expertise. She holds extensive qualifications, including a Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Health (DFSRH), Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG), and a Diploma in Medical Gynaecology and Obstetrics from Otago University, giving her exceptional depth of expertise in women’s healthcare.
Dr Becky currently works as an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer, combining her role as an NHS GP with research work at the University of Sheffield. She is completing her MD doctoral study exploring sexual and reproductive health in primary care. Her research specialises in the earlier diagnosis of women’s health conditions, particularly endometriosis, adenomyosis, and PCOS. She has been actively involved in groundbreaking research exploring biomarkers for endometriosis and PCOS, contributing to improved diagnostic pathways for women experiencing these often under-diagnosed conditions.
In addition to her clinical and research work, Dr Becky has extensive experience in Femtech and is currently developing her own contraception tracker app, demonstrating her commitment to innovative approaches to women’s healthcare. This combination of clinical expertise, research knowledge, and technological innovation allows her to offer patients the most up-to-date, evidence-based care.
Dr Becky is passionate about providing comprehensive women’s health services, from contraceptive advice and reproductive health to the diagnosis and management of complex gynaecological conditions. She takes a holistic approach to women’s health, bringing together thorough history-taking, careful examination, and evidence-based investigations to reach accurate diagnoses.
