Mr Surya Gandham

Mr Surya Gandham is a consultant orthopaedic spinal surgeon with a special interest in both adult and paediatric spinal conditions. His NHS practice is based at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Sheffield Children’s Hospital.  

Mr Gandham went to Liverpool Medical School and completed his junior surgical and orthopaedic training on the Mersey rotation. During this time, he developed a keen interest in teaching and has had an active role on national committees. His research interests include both adult and paediatric spinal pathologies and gained several publications and prizes for his work. He then completed two years of adult and paediatric spinal fellowships at Sheffield, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and The Walton Centre as well as a UK travelling fellowship which gave him further experience of advanced and minimally invasive techniques.  

He is experienced in dealing with an array of spinal conditions, ranging from those relating to the neck, upper and lower back and coccyx/sacrococcygeal area. His expertise ranges from the non-operative treatment of neck and back pain (injections) to complex spine problems such as adult and paediatric deformity (scoliosis).
