Urine and drug testing services analyse biological samples to detect performance-enhancing drugs or illicit substances. This provides reassurance that athletes are competing fairly while protecting the club's reputation and the integrity of the sport. In 2023, UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) conducted 8,816 tests across more than 40 sports in the UK.
Our service goes beyond anti-doping. Urine testing can indicate medical conditions, including hydration levels, diabetes and kidney disease.
At LivingCare, the healthcare team collects samples and securely sends them to our trusted laboratory for analysis. Laboratory specialists analyse the samples to identify performance-enhancing substances, recreational drugs and health markers. Once available, our sports medicine consultant reviews the results. They’ll share findings with authorised members of a club’s medical or performance team.

Before Your Appointment
You don’t need to do anything ahead of your appointment to prepare. You may be advised to stay hydrated before testing.
During Your Appointment
For urine testing, a healthcare professional will ask you to provide a urine sample. For blood testing, a healthcare professional will take a blood sample, usually from the inside of the elbow. You may feel a sharp scratch as the needle is inserted.
After Your Appointment
You can return home immediately after the test. Samples are sent directly to the laboratory, with most results available within one or two days.
Urine testing is non-invasive and carries no significant risks. For blood samples, there is a risk of bruising at the needle site. Infection is rare.
No recovery time is required. If you feel lightheaded following a blood draw, consider sitting in the waiting area before leaving the clinic.

If using medical insurance, contact your provider to confirm coverage for all treatment stages before your first appointment. You’ll need a referral letter from your GP for a private procedure at The LivingCare Group. Once you have it, either you or your GP can book your first appointment with us.
