Consultant Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist
Dr. Nick Burr is a highly respected Consultant Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist based in Yorkshire. He has dedicated his career to advancing the field of gastroenterology, with a particular focus on colonoscopy, bowel cancer screening and prevention through polyp removal, and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). He has a comprehensive Gastroenterology practice dealing with the complete range of conditions of the upper and lower digestive system.
Dr. Burr’s academic journey began with a degree in Applied Biology from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2002. He then pursued his medical degree at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. In 2012, he returned to his roots in Yorkshire on a research fellowship in Gastroenterology in Leeds. His doctoral research (MD) focused on colorectal cancer (CRC) in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases. He continues to have an active research career and has written numerous research papers, reviews and book chapters.
He now works as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Mid-Yorkshire Hospitals, where he is the lead for endoscopy services and Gastroenterology research. He also has a national role as the clinical lead for the National Endoscopy Database, dedicated to improving quality, training and research in all digestive endoscopy procedures.
