About

Dr Nick Burr is a highly respected Consultant Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist based in Yorkshire. He has dedicated his career to advancing the field of gastroenterology, with a particular focus on colonoscopy, bowel cancer screening and prevention through polyp removal, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He has a comprehensive gastroenterology practice, managing the full range of conditions affecting the upper and lower digestive system.

Dr Burr’s academic journey began with a degree in Applied Biology from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2002. He subsequently completed his medical degree at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. In 2012, he returned to Yorkshire to undertake a research fellowship in gastroenterology in Leeds. His doctoral research (MD) focused on colorectal cancer (CRC) in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. He continues to maintain an active research career and has authored numerous research papers, reviews, and book chapters.

Dr Burr currently works as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, where he is the Clinical Lead for Endoscopy Services and Gastroenterology Research. He also holds a national role as Clinical Lead for the National Endoscopy Database, where he is dedicated to improving quality, training and research across all digestive endoscopy procedures.
