Dr Ahsan Iftikhar

Dr Ahsan Iftikhar is a highly experienced Consultant Respiratory Physician with over 13 years of experience in NHS respiratory medicine, trained and practised across some of the UK's leading teaching hospital trusts, including Leeds, York, Hull and Bradford. He holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (London), awarded in 2023, and is a Member of both the British Thoracic Society (BTS) and the European Respiratory Society (ERS).

Dr Iftikhar has developed specialist expertise in lung cancer, pleural diseases, and advanced respiratory interventions. He is an independent operator and trainer in bronchoscopy, EBUS (endobronchial ultrasound), and local anaesthetic thoracoscopy, and holds BTS certification as an Advanced Operator and Trainer in thoracic ultrasound. He has held senior leadership roles at York Teaching Hospital, including Pleural Lead, Lung Cancer Co-Lead, and Governance Lead for Respiratory Medicine, and has served as an educational and clinical supervisor for both foundation doctors and specialist respiratory trainees.

Alongside his specialist focus, Dr Iftikhar brings broad expertise across the full range of respiratory and general internal medicine conditions, with extensive experience managing complex sleep and ventilation disorders, interstitial lung diseases, and respiratory infections including TB.
