24–72 hour ECG monitoring (Holter monitoring) records your heart’s rhythm continuously over 1 to 3 days. It helps detect irregular heartbeats, investigate symptoms like palpitations or dizziness, and assess how well treatments or pacemakers are working.
A 24-72 hour ECG monitoring test, also known as Holter monitoring, is used to continuously record your heart’s electrical activity over 24-72 hours to detect irregularities that might not show up during a brief ECG in a clinic. It's commonly used to diagnose arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms), investigate unexplained symptoms like palpitations, dizziness, or fainting, and monitor the effectiveness of heart medications or pacemakers. You wear small electrodes on your chest connected to a portable device that records your heartbeat as you go about your normal activities. This test provides a more complete picture of your heart’s rhythm and can help identify issues that occur intermittently.
