Tongue Tie

Tongue Tie is where the skin (frenulum) joining a babies tongue to the bottom of their mouth is shorter or thicker than usual.  This can make it harder to breastfeed, and as children age with a tongue tie, it can create lots of challenges with oral health and activity.

​The Surgical process to remove a tongue tie (frenectomy) is a straightforward procedure and can be completed during a 20-minute outpatient appointment, with our experienced maxillofacial surgeon.

  • Consultation only: £45
  • Consultation and tongue tie release: £280

Patient Pathway

Step 1

Patient contacts our team with a brief description of their symptoms. All responses are addressed within 2 hours of the enquiry and will be answered within the hours of 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday.

Step 2

The patient will need to advise the age of the child and if there is any family history of bleeding disorders or anaphylaxis.

Step 3

Within 48 hours, our private services team will then book an appointment at a convenient time for you. This will be a face to face with our Consultant in Maxillofacial Surgery Dr Parmar at our Thorpe Park Clinic to look at your child's tongue tie and determine whether a release is necessary.

Step 4

A £45 deposit is required to secure your appointment, this will be redeemable against the procedure if it goes ahead. If a release is required, we can offer this within the same appointment slot.
If a follow up is required, our private services team will book this in for your child.

Payment Options

Self Pay

We understand that immediate access to healthcare is sometimes essential. With our self-pay service, there are no waiting lists. Within 24 hours, you will be offered a consultation date to see a medical professional that is convenient for you. Our expert team can then give you an assessment and treatment within 1 week of your consultation.

Your consultation and any tests, scans or investigations will be charged separately, however all of these costs will be quoted to you before anything commences and you are under no obligation to continue your treatment with us unless you are happy to do so.

Medical Insurance

If you are paying for your procedure or treatment with medical insurance, you will need to liaise closely with the insurance provider throughout the process.

​​Before attending your first appointment, you should contact your insurance company to check that that your condition is covered for all stages of treatments.​

You will need to visit your GP and ask them to refer you to The LivingCare Group at Thorpe Park Clinic for a private procedure. Your GP will write a letter of referral and then either you or your GP can contact us to arrange your first appointment.
