An MRI scan at LivingCare can be used to examine the following parts of the body:

  • brain and spinal cord

  • bones and joints

  • Internal structures of your ear

The results of an MRI scan can be used to help diagnose conditions, plan treatments and assess how effective previous treatment has been. The machine uses a magnetic field and radio waves, together with an advanced computer system to build up a series of images, each one showing a thin slice of the area being examined. These images are very detailed and can show both bones and soft tissues in the body and can provide a great deal of information. Using the computer system the ‘slices’ can obtained in any direction.

Step  1

Referral: Sent to LivingCare by referring clinician, we will contact you to arrange a suitable time and date for your scan.

No Referral: We will book you a triage call with our private GP to assess your symptoms and decide on a suitable scan.

Step  2

Referral: You will attend Thorpe Park Clinic/Canon Medical Arena for your appointment.

No Referral: Referral sent to our imaging team who will contact you to arrange a suitable time and date for your scan.

Step  3

Referral: A consultant radiologist will review the scan images and provide a written report. This will be sent to your referring clinician 48 hours after your appointment.

No Referral: A consultant radiologist will review the scan images and provide a written report. This will be sent to our Private GP 48 hours after your appointment.

Step  4

Referral: If you require a copy of your report/images after discussion with your referrer, please contact us and we can arrange this.

No Referral: A follow up call will then be arranged at a suitable time to discuss the results. If you require a copy of your report/images after this, please contact us and we can arrange this.
