Mr Samir Salah

About

Mr Samir Ali Salih is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises exclusively in hip and knee replacement surgery for patients with arthritis. He works within the NHS at Mexborough Elective Orthopaedic Centre and Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

He graduated with honours from the University of Oxford in 2012 and completed his specialist orthopaedic training in the highly regarded South Yorkshire rotation, obtaining his CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in 2024. During his training, Mr Salih gained broad experience in all areas of orthopaedic surgery before choosing to focus his practice entirely on hip and knee replacements.

Mr Salih has a particular interest in robotic-assisted joint replacement using the MAKO system. He has completed the Stryker Fellowship which is currently the highest level of training in the MAKO system. This advanced technology allows him to create a highly personalised surgical plan for each patient and perform surgery with exceptional accuracy. For patients, this can mean a more precise joint replacement, better alignment, greater preservation of bone, and a more natural-feeling joint.

In addition to robotic surgery, Mr Salih is passionate about enhanced recovery and day-case joint replacement, helping suitable patients mobilise sooner and return home safely on the same day where appropriate. He uses well-proven implants and modern techniques that are supported by strong clinical evidence and long-term outcomes.

After completing his specialist training, Mr Salih undertook advanced fellowship training in complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement, further strengthening his expertise in managing both straightforward and more challenging cases.
Patients value Mr Salih’s calm, approachable and compassionate manner. He strongly believes in shared decision-making and takes time to ensure patients fully understand their diagnosis, the treatment options available to them, and the benefits and risks of surgery. He works closely with each individual to choose the right treatment at the right time for their lifestyle and goals.

Mr Salih is committed to providing high-quality, personalised care, with the aim of reducing pain, restoring movement and helping patients return to the activities that matter most to them.
