High-Definition Imaging
Our colonoscopies use the latest Olympus high-definition endoscopes, with HD imaging and LED lighting in a scope just 13mm in diameter. Your clinician inspects each section of your bowel on the way in and again on the way out, capturing high-resolution images of key areas. If you’re having a chromocolonoscopy, a harmless dye is used to make subtle changes easier to see.
Comfort Throughout
Before your colonoscopy, the procedure will be explained to you including your comfort options: no sedation, mild sedation to help you relax, or gas and air (Entonox) where appropriate. They explain each step as they go. You may feel some pressure or brief cramping, and with sedation most people remember little or nothing of the procedure.
Biopsies & Treatment
If your clinician sees anything that needs a closer look, they can take a biopsy - a small sample of tissue sent to a laboratory for testing - during the same procedure. Polyps (small growths on the bowel lining) can be removed there and then where appropriate. If you need further tests or treatment, we’ll explain your options and help arrange the next step.
Recovery & Support
Afterwards, you’ll rest in our recovery room while we monitor your blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen levels. Before you go home, you’ll discuss the immediate results with the clinician who carried out your colonoscopy. If you had sedation, someone will need to drive you home and stay with you for 24 hours. If biopsies were taken, we’ll book a follow-up appointment for your results.

If using medical insurance, contact your provider to confirm coverage for all treatment stages before your first appointment. You’ll need a referral letter from your GP for a private procedure at The LivingCare Group. Once you have it, either you or your GP can book your first appointment with us.
